Summer
in Bangladesh starts from the end of March and remains upto the end of May. But
summer vacation in Bangladesh usually starts in May. However, I had an
opportunity to spend my last summer vacation with my grandparents in my village
home. My village home stands on the river of Brahmaputra in Mymensingh. It was
on 05 May 2012. I started my journey by train from Dhaka and reached my village
home in the afternoon. My heart leapt with joy when I met some known faces
waiting for me. They welcomed me with their rustic simplicity. They were very
happy to find me among them. During my long stay there, I did a lot of things
which gave me much pleasure and joy. One day my cousins set a programme of boat
riding to a nearby village where my cousin’s friends lived. We enjoyed the boat
riding greatly. I also made friendship some of my cousin’s friends. I visited
their homes off and on and enjoyed their hospitality. Every day I passed most
time in their company. I also played various rural games with them. One day we
went to catch fishes in the canals nearby our village home. When my cousins
pulled the net, fishes started jumping out of water. Every afternoon I felt
great joy in flying kites. Sometimes, I lay upon the green grass and looked at
the beautiful blue sky of the evening. At moon lit nights, I enjoyed the
twinkling of the bright stars and the unique beauty of nature. I ran over the
open fields and swam in the ponds with a feeling of joy and freedom. I visited
my village ‘Hat’ in which I had been lost in my childhood, and some villagers
had carried me home. I also visited my village school and met with the
teachers. Thus, I passed my whole summer vacation at my village home by doing
many pleasing and joyful activities.
